Pears Foundation
The Pears Foundation’s commitment to providing unrestricted funding is invaluable in allowing us to develop and strengthen the support we offer carers, deliver our public affairs work and develop impactful campaigns. By building a strong ongoing relationship based on trust and maintaining open dialogue, we are building a partnership based on mutual understanding of the changing needs of unpaid carers. We are so grateful to the family for their ongoing investment in our work.
“The value of unrestricted or core funding is now clearer than ever. It helps organisations focus on what they do best, increases their resilience and their ability to respond to both challenges and new opportunities. We are proud to continue our unrestricted funding for the team at Carers UK, supporting their work to improve the wellbeing of the estimated 7 million unpaid carers across the UK.” Sir Trevor Pears CMG, Executive Chair, Pears Foundation
Marie-Louise von Motesiczky Charitable Trust
We are grateful to the Marie-Louise von Motesiczky Charitable Trust for their generous ongoing support for Carers UK. The Trust is named after the acclaimed artist Marie-Louise von Motesiczky (1906-96) who cared for her mother in later life and produced several portraits of her. Reflecting the Trustees’ ongoing concern for the proper support of carers as well as Marie-Louise’s moving family story, the Trust made a generous three-year investment in Carers UK in 2019. This has enabled the development of a new volunteer listening support service.
“Marie-Louise von Motesiczky Charitable Trust is delighted to be able to further the invaluable work done by Carers UK, in recognition of the incalculable practical and emotional contribution made by carers of all ages and in all walks of life.” Frances Carey, Chair, The Marie-Louise von Motesiczky Charitable Trust
John Ellerman Foundation
John Ellerman Foundation is supporting Carers UK with a three-year grant through their Social Action programme. The support of the foundation helps us win increased rights for carers, amplify carers voices and has enabled us to increase the visibility of carers, improve access to information and better support working carers.
The Steel Charitable Trust
We are grateful to The Steel Charitable Trust for their three year grant which is enabling us to sustain and develop our support for carers’ mental health.
Covid 19 Support Fund
The funding received through The Covid-19 Support Fund, created by the insurance and long-term savings industry, supports Making Carers Count. This project in partnership with Carers Trust, aims to increase the availability and improve access to support for unpaid carers who have been particularly affected by the Covid-19 pandemic. We received over £1.3 million for the three year project, the funding will focus on underrepresented groups including BAME carers, LGBTQ+ carers, carers aged 75+ who are digitally excluded, carers of faith and young carers. In our first year, and despite restrictions, we were able to hold over 300 online meet up sessions, directly supporting 886 carers in England and Wales. We have also increased engagement with our Forum and created expert steering groups for BAME carers and LGBTQ+ carers. We understand how hard it can be to engage with the diversity of communities and individual situations and that’s why we’ll keep creating ever more engaging sessions for harder to reach carers.
Garfield Weston Foundation
We are grateful to the Garfield Weston Foundation for their unrestricted grant. Unrestricted funding is invaluable in allowing us to deliver on our ambitious new direction of travel; Vision 2025.
Robertson Trust
The Robertson Trust is supporting Carers Scotland with grant of £54,000 towards the salary costs of our Development and Training Manager. This grant enables us to deliver our self advocacy training, and information on carers’ rights to carers, carers’ charities and employers in Scotland, increasing understanding of carers’ rights and supporting more carers to get their voices heard and obtain the support they urgently need.
The Department of Health and Social Care through the Health and Wellbeing Alliance
Carers UK and Carers Trust are part of the Health and Wellbeing Alliance, a partnership between NHS England and Improvement and Department of Health and Social Care and other voluntary organisations. We work in partnership to engage with emerging policy and practice and to reflect the views of our members and networks in order to support the development of knowledge around carers and caring. We also work to engage carers in the wider health and social care reform agenda and address the intersectionality of health inequalities.
Spirit of 2012
We were proud to collaborate with Spirit of 2012 on the Carers’ Music Fund, a programme of funding for projects between 2019-21 that put women and girls with caring responsibilities front and centre, and provided opportunities for fun, creative expression and self (re)-discovery through music making.

The National Lottery Community Fund - Awards for All Scotland
The National Lottery Community Fund helped improve unpaid carers’ mental and emotional wellbeing by supporting Carers Scotland to deliver its ‘Care for a Cuppa’ and ‘Share & Learn’ sessions. By delivering these, carers get much-needed respite by meeting other carers who understand what they are going through and share tips on coping with the stresses of caring, and do fun and recreational activities away from their caring roles.
The National Lottery Community Fund - Awards for All England
The National Lottery Community Fund supported Carers UK to deliver 2021’s Carers Rights Day community engagement events. This included a special ‘Care for a Cuppa’ session, where attendees got some much-needed respite by meeting other carers with similar caring experiences, and ‘Share & Learn’ sessions, where attendees learnt about carers’ rights, the types of support they can access, and recreational activities to improve their wellbeing.
