eBay for Charity is an easy way for buyers and sellers on eBay.co.uk to support their favourite charities. They work directly with the PayPal Giving Fund to enable sellers to donate a portion of their sales and buyers to shop while supporting their favourite charity.

You can also donate to Carers UK during the checkout process when buying any item on eBay. 

How do I donate shares?

ShareGift is an independent UK registered charity (No.1052686) which specialises in releasing money locked up in small shareholdings. ShareGift works by collecting small lots of shares until there are enough to sell and then donating the resulting proceeds to a wide range of charities.

ShareGift make their grants based on suggestions from donors. You can help support unpaid carers by donating any small shareholdings you may have to ShareGift and mentioning that you support Carers UK. Click here to donate your shares.

Why donate shares?

Donating your uneconomic shares to support our work is a simple way to help make life better for carers. It's also one of the most tax-effective ways to give money.

• You won't have to pay any capital gains tax on the shares you donate and you can claim income tax relief too. 
• If you are a higher rate (40%) taxpayer you will be able to claim income tax relief equal to 40% of the value of the gift. 
• If you are a highest rate (45%) taxpayer you will be able to claim income tax relief equal to 45% of the value of the gift.

To qualify for tax relief, the shares or securities must be:  

• listed or dealt on a recognised UK or foreign stock exchange.
• units in authorised unit trusts.
• shares in a UK open-ended investment company.
• holdings in certain foreign collective investment schemes.
