Working in a workstyle
There are many people who are excluded from work by the prevailing 9-to-5, 5-day-a-week structure, and many carers count themselves in that number. Lizzie Penny and Alex Hirst, the authors of bestseller ‘Workstyle: A Revolution in Wellbeing, Productivity and Society’ talk about their new book and the far-reaching implications working in an autonomous, individualised way can have and why now after the pandemic it’s more important than ever that we don’t return to traditional ways of working but instead redefine work to be fit for the digital era we live in.
Wisdom to Empower series with Sara Challice
Over five sessions, award-winning author and former carer Sara Challice uses insight, strategies and psychology to help you empower yourself as a carer and improve your wellbeing.
Gaining clarity
Carers usually learn the hard way, on their own, and sadly, most end up falling ill. Sara explains CRM – Carer Response Mode and why your perception of caring and your programming are vital. We also look at ways in which to check in with yourself, plus why honesty is the best policy.
Taking back control
Do you feel life is often out of control and happening to you? We look in how to adapt and change to make your life easier. We also look at co-dependency – are you too caring? Within this session there are strategies to ensure you make the right decisions, for yourself, as well as the cared for.
Your support network
Have you felt isolated and lonely whilst caring? In this session, Sara looks at some great ways to put the feelers out to ensure you have the right support. She shares a great ‘A-ha’ moment with an analogy that helped her on becoming more resilient. She also looks at simple psychology when dealing with conflicts.
Your health and wellbeing
How is your mental and physical health? In this session, Sara looks at ‘caregivers burnout’ and why carers need to take extra care of themselves. She also discusses your survival mechanism, which may be draining you. Finally, discover great research on caregivers from a Nobel prizewinner, as well as looking at improving the quality of your sleep.
Enjoying your life
Many carers endure life, but this is not beneficial for either you or those around you. Sara looks at ensuring your self-care and why it is important to focus on the good stuff. She also explores mindfulness and the importance of ‘me time’. In this final session, you’ll dive deeper and look at the ’D word’.
