Me Time online support sessions for carers living in Wales

Our online support sessions in Wales are a series of online activities to support your wellbeing. Activities range from practical advice on carers' rights and caring to emotional and physical wellbeing sessions like mindfulness and dance, to creative opportunities like crafting and cooking. Sessions are open for anyone across the UK.

Below you will find details of the sessions available in June. To sign up, click the link and fill out a short Zoom registration form. We look forward to welcoming you to our friendly and supportive sessions!

Monday 5 June: 2-3pm: What caring looks like in Wales

To start Carers Week, join our campaigns officer who will discuss the latest information about caring in Wales from the census and the latest Carers Week research.

Tuesday 6 June: Volunteer and support carers (Drop-In session)

Volunteering doesn’t have to involve a long-term commitment or take a huge amount of time out of your busy day; it can be hugely rewarding and can positively impact your physical and mental well-being. It can also help to combat stress and provide a sense of purpose.

Come and join Jane Trezise, our Carers Wales Volunteer Officer to discuss the benefits of volunteering and to gain an understanding of the volunteering opportunities at Carers Wales

Friday 9 June: 12-1pm: Carers Rights

Come and join our Policy Officer Jake Smith who will outline the legal rights that you have as an unpaid carer in Wales from the Social Services & Wellbeing Act and other pieces of UK/Welsh legislation. There will be opportunity for discussion.

Saturday 10 June, 10am: Wellbeing morning - Mind, Body and Mood

This interactive session will offer ideas and techniques to improve your mood by understanding the power of the mind to change the way we feel, the way we move, and the way we behave.

We will cover how basic NLP words and phrases can help or hinder the way we feel and why certain words and thoughts can have a greater effect than others.  We will also look at how changing posture and movement can impact our thoughts and ultimately our moods, giving participants a range of ways to feel calmer, stronger, more resilient and more in control again.

Saturday 10 June, 11.30am: Wellbeing morning - Healthy Relationships

Using the basis of Transactional Analysis, this session will provide you with a greater insight into how to build on a healthy relationship, and what gets in the way. These simple techniques can be used when you need to be more confident or assertive, they can be used to diffuse a potential argument and will provide an insight into why we like some people while others can wind us up without even trying!  As we recognise different relationships with different people, we are more likely to reach out to those with whom we feel a connection.

The added bonus of this session is that each of us can gain a greater understanding of ourselves.

Wednesday 14 June: 2-3pm - Quilling Art Session
Come and join us for a quilling art session where you will create your own greeting cards. Great for beginners or those who have had a go before!
Quilling involves using strips of paper that are rolled, looped, curled and twisted to create different shapes, and glued together to create decorative designs.
A craft kit will be posted to you before the session. Registration closes on Tues 6th June so kits can be posted in time.

Monday 19 June 12pm-1pm: Mindfulness

Mindfulness meditation is a mental training practice that teaches you to slow down racing thoughts, let go of negativity, and calm both your mind and body.

Wednesday 21 June - 2pm-3pm: Self-care for carers: finding a healthy balance

Nicole Pruce is a person-centred counsellor who will deliver this session for Carers Wales to discuss how you can provide yourself with some self-care while maintaining your busy caring role and how to find a healthy balance.
